Overview

Located in the heart of Diliman, Quezon City, Toastman is a refreshing coffee shop that brings both comfort and bold flavors to the local food scene. Nestled at 54 Matimtiman, this cozy spot offers a casual and somewhat intimate dining experience, which explains why seats fill up quickly, especially on weekends. Food enthusiasts and coffee lovers seeking quality without pretense will find this place a gem.

Toastman's menu highlights are anchored by their New Orleans Wings and the OG Grilled Cheese, both delivering a satisfying balance between spice and indulgence. The wings stand out as meaty and crispy, free from heavy breading, paired excellently with a tangy American BBQ sauce. Meanwhile, the grilled cheese is not your ordinary sandwich—it’s rich, melty, and crafted with a deliberate nod to comfort food tradition.

The toasties deserve special mention for their artisanal approach. The French Toast features a brioche loaf bathed in a creamy egg mixture, served with whipped cream and strawberry jam; it embodies a perfect harmony of soft, sweet, and slightly tangy elements. The deli pastrami and smokehouse BBQ pastrami toasties sit on rustic sourdough, layered generously with melted mozzarella and cheddar, delivering savory depth with every bite.

What elevates the experience further is Toastman's coffee, brewed from Yardstick beans, which delivers a consistently rich and smooth cup. Their Spanish Latte is particularly praised for its balanced sweetness and pronounced coffee kick, standing out as a crowd favorite for its affordability and quality—a rare find in a city where specialty coffee often comes at a premium. Drinks like the matcha and Arizona beverage offer variety, though some patrons note the matcha leans sweet, inviting personal customization.

Space-wise, Toastman is decidedly small with limited seating. The ambiance is laid-back, with touches like camping chairs adding to a chill vibe, and a curated music playlist that keeps the energy lively without overwhelming. The intimate setting, however, means it can get quite crowded, so timing your visit is key for those seeking a quiet retreat. Service is consistently accommodating and efficient, adding to the overall warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The target audience here clearly includes young professionals, students, and casual foodies who appreciate thoughtfully prepared food paired with excellent coffee in a relaxed setting. Toastman strikes a fine balance between being a neighborhood favorite and a spot worth traveling for, especially for those craving comfort food with a gourmet twist.

Overall, Toastman succeeds in combining classic flavors with approachable quality. From its standout wings and grilled cheese to its breakfast-worthy toasties and well-crafted coffee, the shop delivers a dependable and satisfying culinary experience in Quezon City. Whether popping in for brunch, a caffeine fix, or a casual catch-up, this coffee shop promises enjoyable moments without fuss.

been here for two weeks in a row now! the food is amazing! we enjoyed the grilled cheese, deli pastrami, and french toast. also, we’re happy to get quality spanish latte for only P130! that’s how it should be priced, not a hefty P200 for just a 12oz cup — so plus points for that Toastman! plus they brew Yardstick beans so u know it’s really good. on our first visit (Sunday) - the place was packed! fortunately on our second visit, (also a Sunday), there were fewer people and by 11am we had the place to ourselves. place is small btw so it can easily get crowded. but would definitely make time to wait cos the food and coffee is an easy 10. PS: staff are all accommodating too!

Probably insignificant but, I loved the eggs - perfectly crisped golden brown edges, slightly runny, and sufficiently salted. The Spanish Latte and French Toast were good too. Very chill vibe with the camping chairs as well.

yummy food good drinks, great music, will come back please play bad bunny Luckily for us when we arrived at around 1pm on a Friday, there weren’t many people. Even throughout the day the seats were still available. We got the pstrami, bacon pasta, and toastman’s plate. For drinks we got spanish latte and matcha. I agree with former reviews that the matcha is a bit on the sweeter side, I wouldn’t really get it again as I have my own standards of matcha and can make it at home but it wasn’t unpleasant to try like some other places. The coffee was quite nice though. Since the place is pretty small you can practically hear everything inside and the music tends to be on the louder end, luckily for us we liked the music but you do end up talking a bit louder to compensate for it. The food itself was nice. The pastrami on sourdough was great but i wish the mustard was bit spicier than sweet. Will definitely try the philly cheese steak next tkme. The bacon pasta had really good and fatty bacon bits. This was was heeeavvy so be extra hungry if you want to be able to finish it, or get it to share. The toastman’s plate was nice, full of protein and the jam was great. The toast was nice too but gets soggy. Overall this was a great experience! A small casual spot that I’d love to return to and try out more stuff. The service is quick as well :)

There was a good amount of people considering it was a Wednesday mid-afternoon. Super limited parking available. We enjoyed the food. Their toast is The strawberry matcha is on the sweeter side. You have to mix it really well so that when you’re almost finished with the drink, it’s not just all the jam/syrup at the bottom. Would come back to try their other dishes!

Finally got to try Toastman, I have been here quite a few times but it is always packed. If you want to grab those limited seats, better be early! The spanish latte was really good, you have to stir it well as the condensed milk sits at the bottom of the cup, it is well balanced and the coffee kick is there. Reasonable for its price. The bacon slab is a bomb, the fatty pork belly bacon is packed with flavor. You get 2 pieces plus a generous scrambled egg, it is a protein rich meal. The only issue I had is since it's a fatty dish, there is no accompanying pickle or a sour dip. I didn't bother asking since I was dining outside. Better ask before hand. The rice-protein proportion is kinda off IMO, the proteins are so good, you need more rice . Staffs are nice, seats are very limited, they accept gcash, credit card, parking is extremely difficult. It is worth the comeback... if there are seats available

Ordered the toast and a flat white. The iced flat white is really good, not too acidic but powerfully caffeinated. I’m a regular coffee drinker, having about 2 cups a day, and yet I found myself unable to sleep that night after the flat white haha. The french toast was nice, had a good presentation, and a generous dollop of whipped cream. The jam was just the right amount of tangy sweet. My boyfriend would have preffered the toast to be crispier, because y’know, toast tends to be crispy. Interiors are comfortable. It was kept at a nice temperature, seating is a bit cozy, the lighting is warm.

I visited this place last week and had a good experience. I was waiting for someone, so I decided to dine here. I ordered a matcha drink and carbonara. I especially liked their carbonara since it was served hot. It was creamy, and the bacon on top was crispy. Their matcha was good as well, which is why I ordered it again for takeout. Although the place is not very big, it doesn’t feel crowded. Even with other diners talking, it doesn’t feel loud or noisy at all. Overall, my dining experience was good.

Dined here on a Saturday and it was jampacked, we waited around 30 minutes to get seated. They don’t have a dedicated parking area, but we were lucky to get a curbside spot. Some people had to park on nearby streets and walk to the resto. Bacon slab was thicccc but rice was slightly oily (₱355), but the real champ for me was the beef pastrami sandwich (₱295) w/ perfect beef-to-bread ratio. Not a fan of overflowing sandwiches you can’t even bite into, so this was spot on. Food’s a bit pricier than other cafés, but you definitely get what you pay for in quality. Cold brew (₱120) and Spanish latte (₱130) were also good and surprisingly affordable for the quality.
